Been here 6 weeks now and I'm in no hurry to go back to the UK. I love the sunshine (when it's not raining) the relaxed education system (kids can lie on the floor to do their work) . If this is winter I can't wait to see what summer is like.

If it does rain though and you're stuck for something to do Auckland War Memorial Museum on Auckland Domain is an excellent place to visit, 'specially if you have kids

Hi Debi Ann,

Welcome to The Shore!

I'm glad you're enjoying the Winter weather! I'm up in Torbay! MOTAT and the Zoo are good value too as is a stroll around Devonport and the Naval Museum! Also check out Howick Colonial Viilage and some of the old colonial houses to be found in Aucklands older suburbs. For the Kids on a rainy day...check out Lollipops at Ellerslie or Gladstone road on the Shore and Chipmunks next to Glenfield Mall. For good free outdoor fun the play area's at Long Bay and Browns Bay are hard to beat!

Incidently my wife is from Nailsea and I also lived there for a while when I was 7!!!

Regards

I want to have a better life.

living in Manila, Philippines is equal to lack of opportunities. I have to struggle everyday to get by and you get hardly anything from a multi-tasking work. Don't get me wrong, I can multi-task and not at all choosy with jobs, but in here it's like you work for your employer and not at all for yourself. I want to bring back my passion in everything that I do and get compensated for what its worth. I want to be inlove with my life again. Unfortunately I can't do all that in here. The political situation, economy and all is depressing.

Now why NZ. For everyone else here (save for a few ones), it's all about the US. Even most of my relatives are there, but i still prefer NZ. For me it's such a beautiful place, you get the best of all modern conveniences in a city and yet just a few miles away you are struck with the true essence of nature. I have never been to NZ, but reading about it and just looking at pictures makes me feel like I already miss it without even being there. I've always been attracted to countries with a great culture. There is a thriving film industry, not to mention a music industry too. I want to live in a place where I will feel safe, and not be in fear of getting robbed everytime I walk out the door. Oh, one more thing, It's relatively one of the closer countries here, Australia seems far to limiting when it comes to migrants etc.

I don't know when I'll get there, or if I can even get there.

Why NZ? Why not!

Hello

mmmm why do i want to emigrate? ... where do i start? lol Well, typing ... i want a better life for me and my kids. I have lived in SA and i really enjoyed the lifestyle, but politically it wasnt very stable and i feel that NZ has more to offer than both SA and UK put together.

AND I 'REALLY' want to go Nice One

Hi all

Our reasons for going...exactly the same as 99.99% of people on this forum! I want room for my kids to grow up safely..a tree swing on our 20 acres of land..nobody telling me where to park outside our own house..the school run..3 horses that I can look at through the window while I'm washing up..summer that's not permanent rain..traffic..people living on top of each other..I could go on. Mainly I've always wanted horses and this is probably the only way to achieve my dream. You all know how much houses and land are here in the UK, so it's got to be abroad. My kids won't get harrassed by me too much, because when we've got our own land they can make as much racket as they like and I won't be saying keep it down, think of the neighbours as we won't have any. Yeah, remote house, that's my reason..

Our friends in Scotland (Perthshire) who lived in same village as us had 3 horses and land and a lovely house (we lived just across their paddock!) - and they want to SELL - not on market yet either!!

Totally horse friendly, lots of land with a river running through it, fab views, etc etc all in lovely Perthshire :-) at the foot of the Ochil Hills...

Wellll, I had to try!!

Think they only want c. £300k too... !! Wink

Embarassed Sorry for promoting UK !

Yes scotland is very beautiful, but I was looking forward to paying $300,000 rather than ££'s! but full marks for trying. By the way, you heard anything yet? You were picked the same time as me
