Hi to all
First of all lemme say that this forum along with all of you people is absolutely amazing. I have gained so much information about new zealand and the life there by reading it on this forum.
A little bit about myself - i'm a 20 year old student from new delhi, India and I someday wish to be a part of your community ie new zealand.
I have never been to new zealand but have read & heard alot about it and have liked every bit it.
So I also like most of people on this forum want to come to newzealand to work and may be someday live permanently.
So regarding this i have a question which i would be grateful if u could answer
Would it be possible for me to find work in new zealand(anywhere in newzealand) without have any previous work experience.
I ask this because i'm doing graduation at this time and would like to try and find a job in new zealand once i'm finished with it.
I current field is in the OSL (i'm in the IT field btw)
So can i get a job without work ex or is it a total waste of time to try without it fingers crossed

I could be wrong but we looked into this for our daughter when she graduated and they told us that you must have 2 years work experience relevant to your degree before you can claim any points for the degree. Can anyone confirm this.. cheers Veronica

Under the old Gen Skills rules you had to have exp relevant to quals unless you had a job offer (in which case the job could be relevant instead..)
With the SMC it would still be possible to apply with just quals & job offer...whether you can get a job is another matter!

You could look up some IT companies in New Zealand and email them to see what their graduate intake policy would be, eg whether they would sponsor you and give you a job.
I'm not an expert, but I am under the impression that IT skills are in demand all over the world, and India has a good reputation for IT.
If the NZ businesses are unwilling or unable to procur business visas for overseas graduates, you could wait and get two years experience in India or another country first, then apply again later.
Good luck! Your patience will be rewarded in the end, I am sure.

Dear Bogus100,
If you do not have skilled employment in New Zealand or an offer of skilled employment, your work experience must have been gained in a comparable labour market in order for you to qualify for points for your work experience. I believe India is not included there, thus, try other counties to get the needed work experience.
