Dear Wilson - thanks for all that, DH and I had almost given up on the idea for the time being but I had a positive email from a company this morning indicating that they would be interested if we were out there and then your post made us reconsider the whole thing again. It's just making that leap - shall we sell the house ...what if it doesn't work out....etc etc

Neil and Sandra - points don't matter if you are out there trying to get a work visa - you need to accumulate points if you are putting in an Expression of Interest and this is when they count. If you're heading out on a visitor visa I would imagine you will either need to take or at least have access to all the papers that have ever been important from your birth certificate to your last supermarket receipt - anything you think would be of any possible use (although without making it obvious if you should get checked at Customs!!) If you get a work visa, your wife will have to apply to either extend her visit visa or apply for her own working visa I believe. This is my understanding of it anyway Shy .

Thanks Samueljim,

This seems the easiest way to get out there, We could go for 6 months and spend it finding jobs then apply for WTR.

I was starting to give up ! I now look abck and wish I had gone to Uni instead of taking the money and getting a Job at 16 and earning money gaining lots of experience and working my way up the Corporate ladder !!!!!

So will need to keep looking into this.

You and me both! No

We literally change our minds from day to day and sometimes I get so confused - although this site is brilliant for info, you can end up getting to the point where its easier to think "it'll cost too much, there's too much bureaucracy, it's all too stressful and the UK isn't THAT bad" and then you come to your senses and remember why you wanted it in the first place...then you remember only one of you has a degree and the other one (ie. me) is great at admin & organising but not skilled at anything particularly...ah well...round and round. Good luck in your endeavours, I know what it's like! Yes
